La Coulée de Serrant is located on both sides of the small valley that separes Epire hill on the north of the Savennières ‘ one

It is formed by 3 distinct parts:

  • The « Grand col de la Coulée » located on a hard slope of Chamboureau’s occidental side
  • The « Clos du Château »  a symmetrical slope in comparison with The Coulee, geographically speaking,  under the old Château de la Roche de Serrant’s stretch of wall
  • The « Plantes » whose one part plunges in a strong slope, exposed to the rising sun, on the  Coulee, as the rest of it is located on a soft slope oriented to the south, on the Roche aux Moines hill

 

The history of la Coulee de Serrant

La Coulée de Serrant vineyard was planted in 1130 by Cistercian monks and since that , the wine produced from these vines has always been commercialized under this name. This locality has been the Chateau de Serrant’s property for several centuries; located on the common boundary of Saint Georges sur Loire. This is why it kept the name and has strongly contributed to the renown of the great wine varieties < Savennieres >

 

Coulée de Serrant wines

The colour is deep with some golden reflects. In the nose you will get some white fruit, exotic fruit, dry or confit fruit aromas that will reveal a final grilled almond, and orange aftertaste.

 

Exceptional wine and food pairings

Ideal with white fish or scallops, you’ll also enjoy it with veal blanquette, Anjou chicken and cheese (Cantal, Salers, ..).

Annual production : 150 hL for 6 ha which make about  20 000 bottles a year
